Dual Suction Point Radon Mitigation in Burnsville
Challenge
The Challenge
A homeowner in Burnsville reached out after discovering alarmingly high radon levels of 34 pCi/L in their home more than eight times the EPA’s recommended action level of 4.0. These levels posed a serious health risk and required immediate action. The homeowner needed a solution that would effectively reduce radon levels as quickly as possible, without delays.
Solution
The Solution
Carolina Radon responded immediately, providing an on-site estimate and scheduling the installation right away. Given the severity of the radon levels, our team designed and installed a Dual Suction Point Sub-Slab Depressurization System with an upgraded high-capacity fan.
The installation included:
-
Core-drilling two suction points to maximize airflow and coverage.
-
Sealing cracks, joints, and slab penetrations to boost system efficiency.
-
Installing Schedule 40 PVC piping connected to a common header.
-
Mounting a continuous-duty radon fan sized for optimal performance.
-
Routing the vent piping safely above the roofline per EPA/ANSI/AARST standards.
-
Adding a manometer gauge for easy performance monitoring.
-
Providing a post-install radon test kit to confirm system effectiveness.
By tailoring the system to the home’s needs and upgrading capacity, we created a powerful mitigation system designed to bring radon levels down to a safe range.
Outcome
The homeowner gained immediate peace of mind knowing that a robust mitigation system was in place to protect their family’s health. Follow-up testing will confirm system performance and provide assurance that radon is being reduced to safe levels.
